August 12 a day at sea


Embarkation is always an exciting event - so much promise of exciting things ahead. And this is where we were heading - Greenland
Overnight we headed for the Greenland Sea and the Denmark Strait – notorious for rough waters. Fortunately, this crossing was very smooth sailing. Throughout the day we had a collection of lectures about sea ice, glaciers, Arctic plants and animals and epic tales of early explorers. It was an interesting day and a tranquil sea.
