We are about to embark on a stunning journey one where we have exchanged Australia’s ancient rocky and desert vistas for the ‘icy’ north to explore Iceland and beyond. As we discovered three years ago the Arctic offers so much to travellers like us - it is awe inspiring and breathtakingly beautiful. This time we will be visiting Iceland and Greenland via a short tour of southern Norway. In 2019 after just a few days in Iceland we said we’d like to drive around the entire island taking in the remote NW regions particularly, off the beaten Iceland track. And here we are about to embark on just that journey, an exploration of Iceland the land of fire and ice, fissures and mighty mountains, trolls and elves. It is a country of contrasts and dramatic landscapes. Widely known as the land of fire and ice, Iceland is home to some of the largest glaciers in Europe and some of the world's most active volcanoes.
Barring accommodations arranged through our wonderful agent, Bev Edwards, we will be free wheeling, on our own - our most favourite way to travel. But first we need to set off.
We set off again with the realisation that in going ‘out there’, moving out of our comfort zone, away from the familiar “you don’t get away from it all; you get back to it all. You come home to what’s important, you come back to yourself.” So said Peter Dombrovskis, Australian photographer 1979.
So journey with us to the frozen glorious north.
