After hurtling through darkened and then sunlit skies crushed like sardines encased in a large fetid metal capsule (with no ring-pull!) we made it to gentle Oslo! Once again I am reminded that surface travel is the only thing for us. Send me up in a tiny plane or helicopter and I’m happy as can be but I’ll happily leave the rest of aerial travel to the angels and astronauts. But we arrived ….
Such a beautiful city. We were staying overnight at the Grand Central right at the Central Railway Station. A perfect location.
We dumped our bags and went for a little stroll around the harbour marveling once again at the stunning Opera House spilling right to the water’s edge. Next day our short exploration of southern Norway begins.
The hotel is within the old Grand Central station. Under the glass and steel dome are an array of restaurants. |
This stunning construction is the Operas House. You can climb onto its roof |
One can dine al fresco and any one of a number of restaurants outside the Grand Central. |
